- Open the resume builder. Sign in and open Resume Builder from the dashboard. Pick the resume you want to export, or upload an existing PDF resume to start from it.
- Check the live preview. The preview shows the page exactly as it will be exported, including page breaks, so fix any overflow before you download.
- Open the Download menu. Choose PDF, DOCX or TXT. The file is named after your resume title.
- Re-open the file before you send it. Open the PDF and select some text to confirm it is real text, open the DOCX in Word or Google Docs, and skim the TXT to check that the reading order makes sense.
Which format should I use?
| Format | Best for | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Most online applications and emailing a recruiter. Layout looks the same on every device and the text stays selectable for ATS parsing. | Pro | |
| DOCX | Employers or recruiters who ask for a Word file, or when you want to keep editing in Word or Google Docs. | Pro |
| TXT | Pasting into application forms that only accept plain text, and checking how an ATS might read your resume. | Free |
When a job posting names a file type, follow it. Otherwise a text-based PDF is the safest default.
Are BeeHired exports ATS-friendly?
Yes. The templates use real text (not images of text), standard section headings and a reading order that follows the page, so applicant tracking systems can extract your experience, skills and contact details. For an important application, run the ATS optimizer against the job description to confirm nothing is missing.
Tips for a clean export
- Prefer single-column templates for roles where you expect heavy ATS screening; photo and two-column designs are better suited to markets and roles where a designed CV is expected.
- Keep contact details in the body of the resume, not only in a header or footer.
- Use the same job titles and dates format throughout.
- Name the file clearly, for example First-Last-Resume.pdf. BeeHired uses your resume title as the file name.
